Whose been dumping on your dreams?

When I was still a kid, I always fantasized to be an Electrical Engineer but I never pursued that route and it only appears to me now. As a result, I thought it will be indispensable that I relief others not to be like me.  Don`t get me erroneous, I am blissful with my life. If you go around probing kids, what they want to be when they grow up, what are their dreams you might come across diverse dreamers however as this kids grow up, they sudden conversion not all but mostly. The query is; whose been dumping on your dreams?

Horus Rackham went to the president of the Nation saving bank in 1903 and ask advice about making an investment. He heard of a new company called Ford Motor Company and he was thinking about investing five thousand dollars. The president of the bank was a very trusted financial advisor at the time and said “the horse is here to stay, Automobiles are just the novelty”. Rackham invested five thousand dollars anyhow, several years later; he sold it for twelve million dollars. The query is; whose been dumping on your dreams? Whose been telling you that you can`t do it?

In 1962, Deco records had an opportunity to sign a new musical group, but the President of Deco records said after hearing the band play “we don`t like that sound, group with guitars are on the way out”. The group he passed that he passed up was called The Beatles. We all know of their songs that have moved the world since 1960. The query; whose been dumping on your dreams? Whose been telling you that your nuts?

In 1977 the president of Digital cooperation was a given the opportunity to invest in the dream of a young man by the name of Bill Gates but this small time Multi-million dollar company said concerning Gates dream “there is no reason for any individuals to have a computer in their homes”. Well, how many people do have computers in their homes now? Computer ownership is now at about 4-5% of the world’s population. However with many social projects putting computers in villages in developing countries between 12-14% of the world’s population have access to a computer. Approximately 3-5 % of the world’s population has internet access. We all know of Microsoft cooperation which was found by Bill gates. It is the same program that enables me to type this article because it acts as oil to our computers. The query is; whose been dumping on your dreams?

The late Clifford Robert who founded The Masters Golf Tournament said “As long as I am alive, Golfers will be white and caddies will be black” and one year later before he died, Tiger Woods won the Masters in 1977. The query is; whose been dumping on your dreams?

Whose been telling you that you can`t be? Whose been telling you that the tremendous potential that you have is worthless? If you’re a human being whose always undervalue what you are and overvalue who your not, you will never make a difference. Sometimes you got to believe the dream inside you. We live in the world which is formulated by people`s dreams.

The Wright brothers had a dream; today we have aviation and jets that can fly across the world. Thomas Edison had a dream; the hones electricity, today we have light sourced by the power of electricity in our homes. Alexandra Graham bell had a dream to communicate; now we have cellphones and we all know how much are they have benefitted us. In addition, we had social dreamers; the likes of the late Dr Martin Luther King Junior who had a dream that man should be recognized for the content of their character not the color of their skin. Nelson Mandela had a dream to live in a liberal and rainbow nation as a result; he spent 27 years of his life standing for what he believes in. Steve Biko Died for what he believed in, I can make a long endless list.

Tragedy, the world we live in is filled with people who see what is only the mediate as the result; they never lift up the eyes to see what is beyond them, see what that thought might become. Henry David Thoreau once said “The poorest man is not the man who doesn`t have money but it is the man who doesn`t have a dream”. Helen Keller was born blind and deaf and when she was asked if is the anything worse than being born blind? And she said “yes – is to have sight but not have a vision for your life”. The query is; whose been dumping on your dreams?

Every dream begin as a thought however, we are so ambitious in our thinking but less in doing. Every dream has a price; it’s up to you if you want to pay now and play later or the other way round.

Whose been dumping on your dreams?

What does a woman wants?

Everybody who subsists in this biosphere is a child of someone and not one person can repudiate that unless you’re trying to be arbitrary. I nurtured up knowing that all children came from an airplane as a result, we used to chant whenever we see a plane asking for babies [good all days]. All of that has conceded and we are now living in a new globalized world where information travels so quicker.  The world is now interconnected with nodes, people communicate with other beings from other parts of the world and it only takes few minutes to do that. I wrote this article because I sat down and tried to look at the world as a sociologist, in that progression I figure out that this triumph we brag about only happened for one reason. Most of you read the piece title and thought that you about to read an article criticizing female kind. Well, let me tell you my friend, you wrong! This piece will remind you how valuable are woman.

It is very essential that I give a clear description of what does that word ‘woman’ denotes to me. The word ‘woman’ is from the word ‘womb’ so if you have a womb, you qualify to be a woman. Inasmuch as I said, everyone is whoever he/she is because of somebody carried you 9 months or 7 months for that matter. You mothers have played a very crucial role in this world [no offence fathers]. We need to give woman a break. They`re the toughest populaces I know in this world and they deserve better. Women are not just good seed carriers just like some fathers are but their always a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, the warmth provider and a person to uplift your spirit when your down. Women work binary jobs just to take care of their children, emanate back home late, shattered and exhausted but they still tell their children how much the love them and prepare dinner for them. They still cook for their family after they have spent the whole day working. Even if they earn peanuts, they still support their families rather than going to clubs to get a beer after a tired long day [Again, no offence fathers]. Their first to get up up in the morning; prepare a breakfast for their children and husbands with a smile on their faces. They do all of these not because they have to but because of love.

The other day I started a debate about the fact that, if the world was lead by woman kind, we would n`t have wars like we do. Well, the debate persisted for fours with everyone propelling their sentiments but deep down in their heart they will always know how much altered things would have been if we had women leaders. In fact, we need female kind presidents the entire world. I am undoubtedly weary of reading and hearing about the wars in the Middle East. For God sake, can`t we live in a peaceful world where there is absent of terrorist, nuclear weapons, cold war, the list goes on.

Woman deserves respect for who they’re and for what they stand for. They deserves better than sexual violence! The Mosaic – a non-profit organization that supports youth and adults who experience domestic violence and abuse published a report last year that stated that 1 out of 10 women experienced domestic violence for 10 to 20 years of their lives. This is shockingly shocking that after how much woman sacrifice for us male kid we return a favour by abusing them. In addition, almost one in five women had experienced sexual abuse or rape by their intimate partner. If you call yourself a real man, I am sure you have never been involved in such acts and you’re not willing to be in the near future! Women deserve better. What they wear should n`t determine if their going to be victim of rape or not.

Lastly, Genesis 2:18  ¶And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. If God himself saw a use to have women then I think its time we value them. We woman are the roses of this world. They make this world go around. They deserve to be treated like queens everyday. Consequently, real man don`t beat up a woman.  Check if you’re a real man! Woman wants respect! is that too much to ask?

Crime is out of hand but we can nip it on roots.

picture by South African crime quotes.

The have been a pragmatic increased in the deviant act across South Africa. The Statistics are puzzling and the question to ponder is; has South Africa turned out to be world`s crime capital. It is arguable that Crime is a prominent issue in South Africa . South Africa has an extraordinarily high rate of murders, assaults, rapes (adult, child and infant), and other crimes compared to most countries. In 2005 South Africa was ranked 3rd in the world on murder rates and I was puzzled to see that Around 50 people were murdered in South Africa each day.

In 2009 the police official data showed that there has been a decreased in murder rates and this reduction was due to improvements in the criminal justice system and policing. In contrast, there has been a vast increase in violence crime in South Africa. A survey for the period 1998–2009 compiled by Statistics South Africa  categorized South Africa second for assault and murder (by all means) per capita and first for rapes per capita in a data set of 60 countries. Total crime per capita was 10th out of the 60 countries in the dataset. The  have also led research on the victims of crime which shows the image of South African crime as more distinctive of a developing country.

We perceive these Statistics as conventional quantities and we yield them for Granted. They reflect an unevenly territory in this country and clearly, the display reality including the fact that they exclude the unreported deviant act. The focus has been proven to be ineffective as results; the reported deviant acts keep on mounting up the cliff. One may ask, “What is the problem?”

Well, we don`t need a Rocket scientist to figure it out. Mostly, we try to eradicate a tree by cutting off its branches not the roots. The have been a little focus on ruling out the source of crime and interim contrary to it, in fact; there is a little acquaintance about the sources as compared to the deviant acts.

The deviant acts in this country are mainly due to strains. Strains refer to events or conditions that are disliked by an individual. For instance, class comparison is one of the causes of strains. The gap between the rich and the underprivileged in South Africa is widening up daily. As a result, most people still lives in squatter camps confronted by poverty everyday. Poverty denotes the state of lacking adequate means to live. Such people feel deprived form the economy. A person can be in economic deprivation from any of three perspectives, namely: their income, expenditure/consumption, or asset possession.  These three perspectives are evident in the discourse on poverty. Therefore, people try to find other means of departing from poverty thus; crime is a perfect scapegoat at some point. Most people engage in deviant behavior for survival however this fails to elaborate some cases such rape.

In addition, one fact that is uncontroversial is that inequality is extraordinarily high.  South Africa’s Gini coefficient is almost certainly amongst the highest in the world (not the highest though, as is commonly reported).  A consequence of this high inequality is that South Africa has higher poverty rates than many other countries with comparable average income levels.  While inequality between race groups is still very high, it has been declining of late, while inequality within race groups has been increasing. Such factors have played a gigantic stimulus in crime rates in South Africa.

Therefore, The easy way to eradicate deviant act it not to formulate policies or other forms of punishment rather find the source of this deviant acts and deal with them and surely, that will act as a huge reagent in fighting crimes. Employing more police officials won`t help in a long run rather empower the society in order to change their living conditions. Invest in education not because you want to keep children away from home but for the good of the country as a whole.
